Marco Odermatt and Loïc Meillard - rivals on the slopes, friends beyond the finish line. For the documentary Bending Gates, the two Swiss ski stars were followed exclusively around the globe over a period of six months. On October 11, 2021, the premiere took place together with the athletes at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.
Very similar in some ways, yet completely different in others - that perfectly describes Marco Odermatt and Loïc Meillard. But both pursue the same goal: to improve every single day in order to one day win the overall Ski World Cup.
Over the course of six months, Red Bull and producer Amelie Stiefvatter accompanied the Swiss ski stars and teammates up close, gaining exclusive insights into the world of professional skiing. What does it really take to become a top-level ski racer? And how do athletes prepare physically and mentally for competition? Every athlete needs an environment and a place to switch off, recharge, and regain strength. As professional sportsmen, Marco and Loïc are constantly in the spotlight and must balance their sporting careers with commitments to sponsors and partners - a rewarding yet daily challenge for both athletes.
