Marco Odermatt and Loïc Meillard - rivals on the course, friends off the piste. For the documentary Bending Gates, the two Swiss ski stars were exclusively followed around the globe for six months. The premiere took place on October 11, 2021 at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne together with the athletes.
Very similar, yet completely different - these are the two skiers Marco Odermatt and Loïc Meillard. But they both have just one goal: to get better every day in order to win the overall World Cup one day.
For six months, Red Bull and producer Amelie Stiefvatter got up close and personal with Swiss ski stars and teammates and gained exclusive insights into the world of skiing. What does it actually take to be a professional skier and how do you prepare physically and mentally for a race? Everyone needs an environment and a place to simply switch off and recharge their batteries. As professional athletes, the two are constantly in the media spotlight and have to find the time to fulfill their obligations to their sponsors and partners - a wonderful, but also daily challenge for the two athletes.

How do Marco and Loïc manage not to take off after successes and not lose heart after defeats? And how do you keep the team spirit alive despite the competition? Trust and good team spirit with the entire staff and teammates is essential.
But one thing always remains at the end of the winter: What will the coming ski season bring? And how will they develop?
